Qualifications
Dr Shane W. Woods is a Consultant Psychiatrist that sees patients aged 18 to 65. He holds fellowships with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists and the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. Additionally, he completed a Diploma of Child Health and is a member of the Australasian ADHD Professionals Association.
Working Experience
Dr Woods has extensive experience across public and private sectors in the areas of psychiatry and general practice. Dr Woods graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery (University of Western Sydney) in 2012 and subsequently worked as a Junior Medical Officer at Westmead Hospital. He then moved into general practice, completing a Diploma of Child Health and obtaining Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2017. This experience led to an appreciation of the challenges faced by patients when trying to have their symptoms understood and adequately managed. After working as a general practitioner, Dr Woods returned to the public sector where he undertook specialist psychiatry training. He completed training rotations at the Royal North Shore, Hornsby, Northern Beaches, Greenwich, Orange Base and Dubbo Base Hospitals as well as outpatient training rotations at the Royal North Shore and Canterbury Community Health Centres. He utilizes his extensive experience and passion for high quality, evidence-based psychiatric care to benefit the lives of patients and their loved ones.
